My zip code says Georgia but my heart lives in Charleston. Whether I’m in this classic Southern city for work or for play, I always enjoy exploring these cobblestone streets. The city is filled with historic charm, plenty of scenic backdrops (why do you think I love it so much as a photographer?), but most importantly, plenty of places to eat and drink. Whenever you find me traveling, I’m always planning my trips around when and where to eat. There’s no shortage of places to enjoy yourself in Charleston, and it’s one of the things that keeps me coming back to this city over and over. Read on for some of my favorites below!
167 Raw – Absolutely without a doubt my favorite spot for seafood in Charleston. Get the lobster roll, get the tuna burger, get the scallop po-boy, get the pulled pork taco, get it all. It’s definitely a popular spot and they don’t take reservations, so get there early!
Baba’s on Cannon – A coffee and wine shop I love just off King Street.
Basic Kitchen – Obviously, there’s no shortage of places to indulge yourself in this city. If you’re looking for a lighter meal, this is the spot I would recommend.
Bin 152 – A recent add to this list, my new favorite spot! A cozy wine bar off King Street but it feels off the beaten path. They know their wine (I’ve always enjoyed the staff) and I love their charcuterie selection.
Blind Tiger Pub – Perfect if you’re craving bar/pub style food.
Brown’s Court Bakery – I love this spot for breakfast – they have great coffee and baked goods. One time I had an Airbnb within walking distance to this place and I came here every morning!
Butcher & Bee – A reliable lunch choice that’s adorable and delicious.
Carmella’s – A dessert spot that’s also a coffee shop and bar. Perfect if you have a sweet tooth like me!
The Citrus Club – This is the rooftop bar of the Dewberry Hotel and absolutely a must. The drinks are fabulous (and strong!), the appetizers are delicious, the vibe is on point, the views are great. Again, it’s a must!
The Daily – A great spot for coffee and breakfast.
Dap’s Breakfast – Another favorite breakfast spot.
The Darling Oyster Bar – A favorite spot for oysters, happy hour, seafood, and drinks. Located on King Street. Very Instagram friendly!
Felix – French restaurant located on King Street that I went to for my 30th birthday. We loved our experience here! I’ve been here for both dinner and just a bar hang.
Frannie & The Fox – The restaurant inside Hotel Emeline that is definitely worth the visit. I’ve been with some girlfriends and we split almost everything on the menu – it did not disappoint! I’d also recommend sitting in their courtyard, it was just lovely!
Gin Joint – My favorite spot for drinks in Charleston. I love the moody vibe and unique cocktail menu. It’s tiny but cozy and a fun place for pre or post dinner drinks. Bonus – try their bartenders choice for a fun experience!
Harken or Harbinger Cafe – Sister cafes, and absolutely at the top of my Charleston list. They’re coffee shops with a delicious breakfast and lunch menu as well. I’m obsessed with Harken’s baked goods and their lavender latte is delightful. Also, I love coming here to get some work done!
Indaco – A spot on King Street that I love for pizza and pasta.
Miller’s All Day – Great spot for a simple breakfast.
Obstinate Daughter – While not located in Charleston (it’s on Sullivan’s Island), I still had to include this one. I visited this restaurant during my birthday weekend and absolutely loved it. Located just off the beach, too!
The Ordinary – An upscale seafood spot on King Street, perfect for date night or a special dinner. (Their oyster sliders are so, so good.)
Poogan’s Porch – If you want a classic, good ‘ol Southern brunch, come here. I’ve sat on the porch with Chester, my pup. (His first time trying bacon actually – a fabulous memory.) We absolutely indulged and loved it.
Post House Inn – The cutest Mt. Pleasant hotel with a restaurant worth visiting. I’ve been here for brunch and would love to come back and try dinner!
Queen Street Grocery – A delightful spot for breakfast, crepes, coffee, and lunch. A nice escape from the more crowded touristy spots!
Sugar Bakeshop – A cupcake shop just off King Street that is adorable and delicious. Their lemon raspberry has to be my favorite!
